As all the hue and cry against the movie Padmavati got bigger and uglier, Republic's team led by Arnab Goswami watched  'Padmavati' at a special screening. As the fringe has been stooping to a new low every day, we tell you why every threat, every letter signed by blood, every assault, every mock hanging was something done in vain.

HERE WE BUST ALL THE PADMAVATI RUMOURS:

  • THE ‘DREAM SEQUENCE’

The fringe vandalised the sets of Padmavati, issued threats to Deepika, claiming that there is a dream sequence between Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji in the movie. The closest they came to a dream sequence in the movie was through the word ‘Khwaab’.

In a particular scene in the movie Ratan Singh’s Raj Guru tells Alauddin Khilji,

“Rani Padmavati is a beauty who exists only in dreams.”

In another scene Allauddin Khilji asks the Rajput King,

“Jab bhi hum Padmavati se milne ka kwaab dekhte hain, aap saamne aa jate hain?”

Is that the dream sequence for which a fringe group signed a letter in blood to get the movie banned?

  • ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN PADMAVATI AND KHILJI

The Karni Sena issued a threat to Deepika saying, “her nose will be chopped off” as they were angry about the fact that the movie shows Padmavati (played by Deepika Padukone) and Alauddin Khilji (Ranveer Singh) getting intimate in the movie. Well, apparently Deepika Padukone who plays Padmavati can’t stand Alauddin Khilji. At one point, she even tells Ratan Singh (Shahid Kapoor) to “behead Alauddin Khilji”.

“Sar kaat kyun nahin dete uska?”

In another scene, Padmavati calls Alauddin Khilji a ‘Chaukidaar’ (watchman) and says,

“Na andar aa sakta hai-- sirf pehra de sakta hai”

What intimacy are we talking about then?

  • GLORIFICATION OF ALAUDDIN KHILJI

From the very beginning to the end, the character of Alauddin Khilji was antagonised in the movie. He has been portrayed as a womaniser, a manipulator, a monster. Throughout the movie there is a sharp line differentiating the character of Maha Rawal Ratan Singh (the good guy) from Alauddin Khilji (the bad guy). While the Rajput king has been shown as the epitome of grace and pride, Khilji has been portrayed as the epitome of vice.

From the very beginning, Padmavati is a movie dedicated to Rajput valour and it remains so till the very end.
