The Election Commission has once again rejected Tamil actor Vishal’ nomination for the RK Nagar bypolls on Tuesday night.
While talking to Republic TV, actor Vishal has claimed that the proposers who supported him for nomination have been threatened. The proposers have claimed threats by the OPS camp.
Officials have said that the film actor's nomination papers only had "valid" signatures of eight proposers, not the mandatory ten.
However, in a phone conversation that has been released which has surfaced, one of the proposers claims to be threatened.
The actor wasn’t the only one whose nomination was rejected for the RK Nagar bypolls, J Jayalalithaa's niece Deepa Jayakumar's papers were also rejected because she had failed to fill several columns in her election affidavit.
Actor Vishal, who announced his entry into politics on Saturday, filed his nomination papers for the RK Nagar by-poll on Monday.
The by-election, which is being held to fill the assembly seat vacated by former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa, has already seen many controversies. It had to be deferred earlier in the year after major allegations of voters being bribed had surfaced.
