The controversy surrounding ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ is making headlines and that has perhaps diluted the brilliant transformation of Anupam Kher as former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh.

The veteran has been lauded for the recreation of Dr Singh’s style of walking and talking. Kher has now shared a brilliant time-lapse video of how he transformed into the former PM. While the video in just 20 seconds excellently captures everything about his look, from the beard, turban, eyebrows to the outfit, the entire process used to be a two-hour task for the team on each day of the shoot. 

The ‘A Wednesday’ star conveyed his gratitude to the ‘great’ team who worked on the make-up and the wardrobe and praised them for the ‘brilliant costume design’. He individually thanked the artists and added that he wouldn’t have been able to do the movie without them.

The trailer of ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has created a political storm between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party and Indian National Congress. While a unit of the latter has demanded a screening of the movie, accusing it of maligning their leader and even complaints have been filed against the makers, some of the members of the former has championed for free speech and some who stated that the book that the movie is based was released a long time ago. Kher, meanwhile, has stated how the movie is an honest adaptation of the book and is convinced that Dr Singh will come and hug him after watching the film. 

‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, also starring Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Mathur, Suzanne Bernet and Aahana Kumra, is directed by Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and hits the theatres on 11 January.
