The trailer of the much-anticipated upcoming political drama 'The Accidental Prime Minister' is all set to release on Thursday, December 27. The film is based on the life of the former Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh and features veteran actor Anupam Kher in the lead. 

Ahead of the release of the same, the actor shared a hilarious video in which his mother can be seen talking about how she at first failed to recognize him because of his striking resemblance with the former Prime Minister in an unreleased poster of the film. In the post, the actor revealed that his mother, who is impressed and confused by his looks at the same time had initially mistaken him as Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Sharing the video on Twitter he said, "Showed Mom yet to be released poster of #TheAccidentalPrimeMinister. Her reaction is Hilarious. She is impressed & confused at the same time. Doesn’t know how to convey her feelings. Finally declares “ये तो पागल है। क्या करूँ मैं तेरे को?” #DulariRocks #MomIsTheBest"

Ever since the first poster of the film released, Anupam Kher's striking resemblance to Manmohan Singh has become a talking point. The distinct resemblance of the actor to Manmohan Singh has grabbed several eyeballs. Earlier a few snippets and videos of Anupam Kher were doing the rounds, where his mannerisms and postures were also seen to be exactly like the former PM and fans were much impressed by his perfection.

'The Accidental Prime Minister' traces the making and the unmaking of the former PM. The film is based on a book of the same name by Sanjaya Baru, a former media advisor to Manmohan Singh. It alleges that Dr. Singh was never fully in control of his cabinet and a significant amount of power was wielded by then Congress president Sonia Gandhi. In the book, he also alleges that Dr. Singh was completely subservient to her.

Besides, Anupam Kher, the film also stars Suzanne Bernert as Sonia Gandhi, Ahana Kumra as Priyanka Gandhi and Arjun Mathur as Rahul Gandhi. The movie is helmed by debutant director Vijay Ratnakar Gutte and is scheduled to release in March 2019.
