Ahead of the release of the much-anticipated venture 'Thackeray', a bunch of Shiv Sena party members created ruckus at a cinema hall in Vashi demanding the installation of the poster of the film.

The much-anticipated political drama 'Thackeray' is all set to hit the theaters on Friday, January 25. Ahead of the release of the film, Shiv Sena attacked Inox theatre in Vashi for not putting up the poster of the film. The upcoming political drama 'Thackeray' has been making the headlines ever since the film was announced. The biopic that narrates the story of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray, features Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the iconic political leader. It also stars Amrita Rao as Meena Tai Thackeray, wife of the renowned politician, who is fondly known as 'Maa Saheb'. Mohanlal and Sudhir Mishra are also featured in the lead. The film marks Amrita Rao's return to the silver screen after a  who is all set to return to the silver screen with upcoming political drama 'Thackeray' recently opened up about the long break that she took from Bollywood following her appearance in 2013 film 'Satyagraha'. 

The film follows the rise of the politician from humble beginnings to establish a political party as he felt it was important to get involved with the people to serve the people. Nawazuddin's eye-grabbing makeover as Bal Thackeray has been in the news for a while and makers have also revealed the first look of actress Amrita Rao from the film recently.

The trailer of the film released on December 26 following a launch event in Mumbai amid controversies over the Censor board objecting to certain dialogues in the film. Several celebrities across domains have expressed their views on the upcoming venture on social media. The trailer features Thackeray’s rise from humble beginnings to establish a political party as he felt it was important to get involved with the people to serve the people.

The film has been directed by Abhijit Panse and written and produced by Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut and Shrikant Bhasi along with Viacom Motion Pictures.
