Cricket fans around the world can't hold their excitement as the World Cup is underway. Actor Ranveer Singh recently further instigated the same as he shared a post reminiscing India's 1983 win.

The actor, who is all set to star in upcoming sports drama '83',  took to Twitter on Friday, May 31, and shared a video which features snippets of newspaper clippings of the 1983 cricket world cup victory. After showcasing various newspaper clippings, the clip ends with a prestigious cricket trophy. The 33-year-old who will be portraying then Captain Kapil Dev in the upcoming venture left the post captionless.

The film '83' which is based on India's historical first Cricket World Cup Win against England at the Lord's stadium, will see Ranveer play the role of the then Indian cricket captain Kapil Dev. The sports drama, which will be helmed by Kabir Khan, will chronicle India's win under Kapil Dev's captainship when the Men in Blue defeated West Indies in the final to clinch their first-ever World Cup trophy in 1983. 

Ranveer is gearing up for his upcoming sports drama as he is often seen practicing for the same. He is trained for the role by Kapil Dev himself as several pictures and videos of the 'Gully Boy' actor interacting with the legendary cricketer surfaced on the internet. Helmed by Kabir Khan, the movie is slated to release on April 10, 2020.

Besides Ranveer, the film also stars Ammy Virk as Balwinder Singh Sandhu, Chirag Patil in his father Sandeep Patil’s role, Sahil Khattar as Syed Kirmani, R Badree as Sunil Valson, Jiiva as Krishnamachari Srikkanth, and Pankaj Tripathi as manager Man Singh, are among the other members of the cast.

Meanwhile, the entire cast of  '83' has left for London to kick start their first shooting schedule. The members playing team blue were spotted outside the Mumbai airport while they were about to leave for London. Recently, the cast was seen screaming and shouting to express their excitement for their first shoot while being captured by the shutter bucks.

Helmed by Kabir Khan, '83' is slated to hit the theatres on April 10, 2020.
