Kangana Ranaut, who is currently working on her film 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi' has been an avid follower of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's campaigns for a long time now. One such initiative is 'Beti Bachao', which is an attempt to put an end to female infanticide in the country.
On the occasion of PM Modi's 68th birthday, the actress made sure to send her regards to the man of the hour. She shot a video for him from the sets of the film. "Respected Prime Minister Sir, we wish you a happy birthday, my team and I pray for your long life and we appreciate your Beti Bachao initiative. And we wish that you continue along the path of progress," she said.
Talking about her film, the period drama has faced a lot of obstacles way before its release. Many have said that it is following a path similar to that of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmaavat'. In a series of unfortunate events, the sets of the Deepika Padukone starrer was vandalised by a fringe group. They accused the director of distorting historical facts under the pretext of cinematic liberty. None of which was true which was proved when the film released. It raked in hundreds of crores making it one of the biggest films of the year.
A situation similar to that took place on the sets of 'Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi', but it all fell in place later. The other hiccup was when director Radha Krishna Jagarlamudi walked out of the film. According to reports, when the makers of the movie saw the rough cut of the film, they were upset and hence asked the actress to take over. Kangana was given the option of coming on board as a director or let the film be shelved. She agreed to take the responsibility and decided to lead the team. Though the producers had the choice to bring a new director on board, they chose to let Kangana take the lead after seeing her dedication towards the project.
The much-awaited film which is scheduled to hit theatres on January 25 will tell the tale of the braveheart Rani Laxmibai.
