From Amitabh Bachchan’s ‘Zanjeer’ to the recent ‘Simmba’, cop films have not just entertained audiences over the years, but also minted money for the makers and blessed stars with immense popularity. But did you know Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t played a police officer in his 26-year career? And he might be joined by another actor who is yet to don the Khaki, Ranbir Kapoor. The duo revealed their urge to play cops at Umang, an event organised by Mumbai Police on Sunday.

In a video from the event that surfaced on social media, Ranbir shares with Shah Rukh Khan how once a cop told him he needs to do police films to succeed. He says, “A few years ago, my film was a debacle at the box office. A police officer stopped me in my car and then realised it was me. First he clicked a picture with me, and then he give me a half-an-hour lecture that I’m been doing the wrong films and that I should do a film where I wear the police uniform. I got such a big reality check as to what I was doing in my life.”

‘King Khan’ asks Ranbir since how many years he’s been working and he replies 10 years, and the former says he hasn’t played a cop in his entire career. SRK says, “I’ve been working for 26 years and I haven’t the role of a police officer. First I will do, only then you will.”

Ranbir, however, had a different proposition, “When you’ll become a police officer, I will play your constable.”

The duo then held hands and Shah Rukh Khan requests the senior police officers, “This is a promise. Whenever I get a big role, Ranbir will play the role of my assistant.  Please induct us into Mumbai Police.”
