If cricket is the most popular sport in the country today, there’s one event that played the biggest part in it, the 1983 World Cup victory.  As the historic event completes 36 years on Tuesday, many celebrities went back in time to relive their own memories of the day, and thank Kapil Dev and Co for making it possible. The memorable event is all set to come alive again, on screen, as Ranveer Singh steps into the shoes of the former Indian captain for the movie ‘83.’ The actor also shared a video featuring moments from June 25, 1983 and how his own team was on course to recreate it for the big screen.

Ranveer termed the 1983 World Cup win as, “36 years ago on this day, India turned the world upside down!!! #ThisIs83.” The actor's special video starts with Mohinder Amarnath trapping Michael Holding in front of the wicket, after which the all-rounder picks up the stump and runs towards the pavilion, where the celebrations had already begun, and then captain Kapil lifts the trophy at the Lord’s balcony while the entire ground fills with the crowd.

Cut to present, the video then features how the new ‘Kapil’s Devils’ are prepping for the film. Visuals of their warm-up sessions, batting and fielding drills, and other passionate and fun moments can also be seen. From being guided by one of the members of that team, Balwinder Singh Sandhu to hitting an MS Dhoni-kind of six that won India its second World Cup in 2011, Ranveer rightly leads the highlights. The off-field captain, director Kabir Khan, can also be seen at the end of the video.
