  • Saif Ali Khan recently appeared on Arbaaz Khan's chat show 'Pinch' and gave the best clarifications to mean trolls.
  • "I hope in time, when I look back and people look at it, they will say, 'I think he deserves an honour for the work he has done," said Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan recently appeared on Arbaaz Khan's chat show 'Pinch' where he spoke about how actors and celebrities go through on social media. Reacting to one of the trolls who questioned his Padma Shri Award that Saif was honoured with in 2010, the actor had the best reply.

The troll said: "This two bit thug who bought a Padma Shri, named his son Taimur and beat up some people in a restaurant. How the hell did he get a role in Sacred Games? He can hardly act."

To which, Saif Ali Khan said: "Two bit thug, I'm not... Bought a Padma Shri is also not possible. It is beyond me to bribe the Indian government. You will have to ask more senior people. But I thought I don't want to accept it. There are so many senior actors in the industry who deserved it even more than me, and had not gotten one...and it was very embarassing. And of course, there are some people who have it, I feel deserve it less than me also."

"I wanted to give it back. I didn't want to accept it. My father said to me, 'I don't think you are in a position to refuse the Indian government.' So I said 'okay' and I very happily took it. I look at it in a way that I hope in time...cause I'm not done yet and I'm enjoying acting, I'm doing fairly well, I'm happy with what's happening... I hope in time, when I look back and people look at it, they will say, 'Okay, I think he deserves an honour for the work he has done," he concluded.

Talking about the second part of what troll said, Saif clarified: "Beat up someone in a restaurant is a very unfortunate incident and there is no excuse for it. Movie stars, actors have a responsibilty to avoid trouble. Sometimes the energies go in a certain way, a really difficult person can come across you and provoke you in a terrible way and you can also overreact and it can go out of hand. Beating up is an exaggeration between a little bit of scuffle. We are all paying for our past mistakes."

He also spoke about the controversy over his son Taimur's name. He said: “I think Taimur is a beautiful name... it means iron and it sounds beautiful. I am aware that it sounds like and people thought it is based on the Turkish-Mongul invader, called Timur. I am saying it is not the same name. If you are telling me one letter does not make a difference then luck and f*** are different words, aren’t they?”

He further said: "You can’t impress everyone, hence what people think should not really bother you. As long as your fundamentals are straight, your family, your friends believe in what you are doing. Some people’s opinions matter but people at large...I think it will be a waste of energy to try and make everyone happy.”
