Veteran actress Deepti Naval opened up about the untimely demise of Bollywood icon Sridevi. Acknowledging the huge loss, Deepti marked her death as 'shocking'. In an exclusive interview with Republic TV, she said,

"It has come as a very shocking news. I think the whole industry has been reeling under the shock as there was nothing preempting this incident and suddenly she's gone."  

She also identified Sridevi as an integral part of the society and added, "Such an integral part of the industry... the first big superstar of Bombay film industry and such a brilliant brilliant actor. It's going to be very very difficult to come to terms with. It's a huge loss."

 Deepti expressed how the unexpected death of the legendary actress has moved her and said, "Everybody's really speechless and nobody knows how it's happened. Nobody really knows many details. But its a very big loss. It's too monumental a loss for this industry. She's such a brilliant actor."

The 'Memories in March' star went on to name Sridevi's films including 'English Vinglish' and 'Sadma', citing that Sridevi was a class apart, and spoke about how roles were often mentioned as being 'roles for Sridevi'.

Although the duo reportedly did not share the silver screen together both were known to appreciate each other's works. Sridevi's sudden death has not only left her Bollywood family but the whole nation in shock. She passed away at the age of 54, in Dubai while attending the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah. Reportedly, she suffered a massive cardiac arrest. She was accompanied by her husband Boney Kapoor and younger daughter Khushi, while her elder daughter Janvi was busy with the shooting of her upcoming film 'Dhadak'. She died at around 11 pm UAE time and her death was confirmed by her brother-in-law Sanjay Kapoor. 

The veteran actress made her Bollywood debut in 1978 with P. Bharathiraja's directorial ‘Solva Sawan’. She touched the epitome of success after her film  ‘Himmatwala’ was released in 1983. She took a break from her career after starring in ‘Judaai’ opposite Anil Kapoor and marked her return to the industry in 2012 with the movie ‘English Vinglish’ which was widely appreciated by the audience.
