WATCH | ‘Special experience’: Alia Bhatt takes netizens through a tour of her new home in ‘Moving Day Vlog’

Indians have been known for the joint family tradition since ages, but gradually the citizens also started adopting the nuclear family set-up. Even this system is now undergoing a change as unlike marriage or shifting places for education/job, children have been moving out of their parents’ home to move into their own houses. Alia Bhatt was one of those bought herself a new abode, at a stone’s throw away from parents Mahesh Bhatt and Soni Razdan’s abode in Juhu, Mumbai. The actress recently took the netizens through a tour of her new house with her ‘Moving Day Vlog’ where she opened up on how she set up her home, how she wanted to be involved in every aspect of it and how she and her sister Shaheen accomplished the task.

In the video posted on her official YouTube video channel, Alia can be heard saying, “The first ever house I bought with my own money, my own effort and everything we did together as a family, my mum, my sister and of course my interior designer, that whole process was recorded... Moving into my house was a very special experience because it was the first time I was moving away from my home into my own house. The whole of doing the house took 2 years.” 

She adds, “Intially, I was going to move in alone, then I decided to take my sister along with me, and of course, she was more than happy, but she decided to live part-time with me and part-time with my mom. A lot of the things were very ‘by ourselves’, I said, I want to be involved with each and every aspect of the house because eventually it’s my house, and I am a very particular person about my space, very much like a cat in that aspect.” 

In the video, one can see Alia picking up the cartons, unboxing it, setting the glasses for the kitchen and more. The old-style telephone, ‘good vibes’ board and other such objects stand out. 

The actress reveals, “My sister is amazing with picking up little things for the house; she ordered a lot of stuff online, we made a couple of trips, a lot of it, we wanted to set it up ourselves, and it didn’t happen in one go, it took a couple of days and there were times where we felt  the ‘house is set and it is all done, the way it is all looking good’ and then few days later, we would change our minds and feel, ‘No, this should go here’.” 

Even Soni Razdan is seen making a visit to see if her daughters have done it all right.

The ‘Raazi’ star concluded, “So it was a full process, but I really enjoyed that process, we did land up covering that process of moving to the house and shooting it. How the whole experience was and whenever I look back and think about it, it feels like ages ago, but actually it wasn’t like a long ago. And now I’m in the process of moving into my office, so that’s a process that has started along with it, and that should come up soon as well. That was a whole lot of nostalgia over there.”
