After the controversial meme posted during 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, looks like Vivek Oberoi is under the spotlight for all the wrong reasons again. This time, it's his meme on India Vs New Zealand semi-finals.
The distasteful meme shows how a fan walking down the street thinks the lady walking towards him is about to hug him but actually hugs another man walking behind the fan and he is left embarassed in the end.
Within moments, Netizens started bashing Vivek Oberoi and dropped comments like: "At least they fought for nation and reached to the semifinals not like you who’s just just getting knocked out with every flop movie. Show some respect to team india 🇮🇳". The other said: "फैंस की ऐसी बेज्जती मत करो... (Don't insult the fans like this).
Sharing the GIF on his Twitter handle, Vivek wrote: "This is what happened to Indian fans in the #WC semi finals! #CWC19 #WorldCupSemiFinal #INDvsNZ #indiavsNewzealand" [sic]. Take a look at the meme and reactions from Twitterati -
This is not the first time when Vivek Oberoi has shared something controversial on his Twitter handle. A few months back, the actor faced the wrath of social media users including actor-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar, NCW chairperson Rekha Sharma and Bollywood actor Sonam Kapoor over sharing a "distasteful" and "crass" meme targeting Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's relationships.
Oberoi, who reportedly dated the actor-former Miss World in early 2000s, posted a meme with three panels, one with him, another with Salman Khan and a third with her husband Abhishek and daughter Aaradhya on Twitter. The meme was a take on the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
