Tanushree Dutta back in 2018 started the #MeToo movement in India after she called out Nana Patekar. Many Bollywood celebrities came out in support of the movement and voiced their opinion. Sunny Deol too shared his views back in 2018 but the 'Gadar' actor got trolled for the same.

He had then said: "Let the world be. Let’s not hunt for things. Why do we need to get into why they haven’t come across or somebody has come across or this is what the world is doing. That’s the problem, everything has to be brought out." [sic]

Now in an interview with an entertainment channel, Sunny Deol reacted to his controversial comment and said: "I am a guy who would say when I was doing films, my sister comes and tells me, “that guy inappropriately touched me”, I would tell her, “let me rip apart his arm.” That time everybody said so gross, how can you do it. I said, if anybody touches my sister, I’ll rip their arm apart. That’s what we believe in so what is wrong is wrong. That’s what my basic question is, my answer is that. Now we’re talking about it, it just goes on to the judgemental thing, that people misuse it, use it."

He further went on to clarify, "Ye sabko samajh hai and the industry knows about it and when people know about it, people should instead of getting into it, they should take their call and not interact with these kinds of people or they should avoid it. Jo cheez galat hai wo galat hai and that can never change.  And a guy who needs to be punished should be punished. Period."

Meanwhile, As per Republic TV sources, veteran actor Sunny Deol is all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party, (BJP) and will contest from Punjab's Gurdaspur. He is also the third member of the Deol family to be officially associated with the party and has been spotted in the town of Gurdaspur twice in the past week.
