World Cup | Aamir Khan pens heartfelt note for Virat Kohli & Team India following their semifinal exit, says, 'proud of our team'

New Zealand defeated India in the first semifinal of World Cup 2019 at Old Trafford on Wednesday and became the first team to qualify for the finals. While the entire nation is heartbroken with India's exit from the World Cup tournament, actor Aamir Khan recently extended a message to Captain Virat Kohli and team India stating that he is proud of their achievements. He said that it was sheer bad luck or just a bad day that things didn't proceed in India's favour. He further hailed the team for their praiseworthy performance throughout the tournament.

Aamir took to Twitter and address heartfelt note to Virat Kohli and team, which read, "Hard Luck Virat. Just wasn't our day today. For me, India had already won the world cup when we qualified for the semis at the top of the list as the no 1 team. Well played guys, throughout the tournament. I just wish it hadn't rained yesterday... the result might have been different. But well done. Proud of our team. Love.a."

In the semifinal clash, New Zealand beat India by 18 runs and sealed a place in the final for the second time, even as Dhoni and Jadeja's partnership kept the hopes of Indian Cricket fans high. India fell just short of the victory margin with 221 while chasing New Zealand's 240.

Speaking following the match, Captain of Indian Cricket team Virat Kohli said that team's shot-selection could have been better, adding that it was Jadeja's performances that had a huge positive throughout the game.

"First half we were good with the ball on the field. We got what we wanted," the skipper said, adding, 'I thought we had restricted New Zealand to a total that was gettable. Then they balled very well in the first half-hour.'

He later praised the Kiwi bowlers, 'Credit has to go to New Zealand bowlers, their skill level was on display, they got the swing.'
