World Cup: Anushka Sharma’s viral gaze at the camera after being snapped grooving turns fodder for a flood of memes

The lady luck has been shining on this World Cup’s sensation Rohit Sharma as wife Ritika Sajdeh and daughter Samaira’s presence at the stadium has led to the opening batsman scoring a record five centuries. World No 1-ranked batsman Virat Kohli has been doing it all, from captaincy to becoming the first skipper to register four consecutive fifties in the quadrennial tournament without Anushka Sharma in the stands. However, as the actor-wife made her first appearance in the stands during the India vs Sri Lanka encounter on Saturday, netizens felt there was a different Virat, and by default the entire team, on the field. While the captain’s expressions became a talking point like always, the ‘Band Baaja Baraat’ star also became a part of headlines when she seemed to ask about the signal to indicate 4 runs. Moreover, the 31-year-old's gaze at the camera while realising she was snapped letting loose in the stands even turned out to be fodder for memes on social media.

A video of Anushka lightly dancing and lip-syncing to the iconic Punjabi track ‘Taare Gin Gin’ went viral on social media. Later, the actress seemed to spot the camera recording her and bent her head to reveal her eyes gazing at the camera. She is then seen pointing to the camera and even making some gestures, as if she had suggestions for setting the field for the next delivery. 

Memes compared Anushka’s ‘iconic’ expression to her finding a ‘Marry Me, Virat’ placard, mother’s reaction to marks, minding one’s business to shopkeeper’s reaction on asking for Rs 2000 change.
