Bollywood actress Yami Gautam who made her Bollywood debut in the movie 'Vicky Donor' has now been a part of the industry for six years and has featured in several films in Bollywood as well as down south. The pay parity between male and female actors has always been a matter of discussion in Bollywood.
Yami Gautam while talking to a daily news website said that people do not express a lot of things. She said that there is a sense of fear that if you say something you will be judged or it will be misconstrued into a wrong headline. Taking further about pay parity, the 'Badlapur' actress said that it is a complex issue and that nobody wants to upset anyone. She said that there are a couple of things that will take time, but they will happen eventually. Yami Gautam feels that someone with a strong opinion just has to take up the initiative for things to change.
On a personal note, the actress said that for her money has never been the driving force. She further that even though finances are very important in a place like Mumbai, she will never let go of a film just for the money. However, Gautam feels that it is subjective and depends from person to person.
She admits, that she has done some ads because they paid well. The actress cleared that she has done advertisements for money but not films. The 'Sanam Re' actress said that there were circumstances when she let go of projects which were willing to pay her a good amount. She let go of those projects at a time when she was not financially strong. At that time, she said that she had decided to cut down on a couple of things, but would never do movies for the money.
Yami Gautam was last seen in 'Batti Gul Meter Chalu' alongside Shahid Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor. She played a lawyer in the film. The film was about the electricity issue in a village and the problems that emerge due to wrong bills given to the people.
