'You are our national treasure': Anil Kapoor hails Shankar Mahadevan for receiving a Padma Shri

Forty-seven prominent personalities, including musician Shankar Mahadevan, were conferred the Padma awards by President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday, February 11. Following the same, Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor took to Twitter to congratulate his friend. The actor shared Mahadevan's post on the same and hailed him as 'a national treasure'.

In the post, he wrote, "Congratulations @Shankar_Live you are our national treasure .."

President Kovind presented Padma Shri to Shankar Mahadevan for being an Art. A prominent singer and music composer. Mahadevan has been performing around the globe over with his varied repertoire, covering Indian classical, jazz, fusion, rock, folk, film and spiritual music.

Following the award ceremony, the singer shared a number of pictures and videos from the event expressing his gratitude over receiving the honour. Sharing pictures of him receiving the award from the president on Twitter, and then posing with it in the next picture, Mahadevan wrote, "It's a great honour & a privilege to accept the #PadmaShri award graciously from our honourable President #RamNathKovind @rashtrapatibhvn Thank you all for the endless love and support!!!"

In a consecutive post, he shared a video of him receiving the award and said that there is no satisfaction more precious to him than receiving the title. He further thanked his fans for loving his music.

In the post, he wrote, "There is no satisfaction more precious than receiving the title of #PadmaShri from our Hon. President #RamNathKovind @rashtrapatibhvn Words fall short to express my feelings.. Obliged, overwhelmed & grateful Thank you for the love, thank you for loving the music! @narendramodi"

Several other celebrities including Javed Akhtar, Meghna Gulzar, and cricketer Ajinkya Rahane congratulated him for receiving the honour. Prime Minister Narendra Modi who was present at Rashtrapati Bhavan for the Award ceremony also extended his greetings to the awardees.
