  • Brad Pitt's sci-fi space drama 'Ad Astra' made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival recently and the initial reviews prove that critics are divided.

After giving his arguably career-best performance in 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood', Hollywood star Brad Pitt recently appeared in sci-fi drama 'Ad Astra'. The film which made its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival has left the audience and critics divided. The initial reviews of 'Ad Astra' that surfaced recently and it has recorded diverse opinions. While some called the space saga a 'masterpiece', others found it 'dealing with the idea of toxic masculinity'.

Meanwhile, word recognized review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes which is yet to deliver its final verdict, holds 'Ad Astra' at 80% in the tomato-meter with 20 reviews.

Brad Pitt's 'Ad Astra' is heading for a launch around USD 20 million during the September 20-22 weekend. As per media reports, Brad Pitt will be featured as an astronaut in 'Ad Astra' who journeys across the solar system in search of his missing father, a dangerous renegade scientist. Besides Brad Pitt, the film also stars veteran actor Tommy Lee Jones in the lead, who will reportedly see playing the role of his father in the upcoming venture. Ruth Negga, Jamie Kennedy, and Donald Sutherland will also be seen featuring in 'Ad Astra.'

'Ad Astra' premiered on Thursday at the Venice Film Festival. Fox Entertainment which was initially backing the project had planned to release the Brad Pitt starrer in May, this year but Disney shifted it to the fall after buying Fox's movie assets. 'Ad Astra' is helmed by James Gray and is jointly scripted by Ethan Gross along with Gray. The filmmaker began shooting for  'Ad Astra', which carries a USD 80 million budget, in 2017. 

Fox isexpecting a promising response from the audience for the Brad Pitt starred as previous space-films 'The Martian' and 'Passengers' saw the strong performance with USD 630 million and 300 million at the global box office.

Brad Pitt's 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood'

Brad Pitt's 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood' which also starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie surfaced recently. The film received rave reviews from the audience after it released earlier this month. Set in 1969 Los Angeles, 'Once Upon a Time In Hollywood,' is director Quentin Tarantino’s most affectionate and poignant ode yet to the movie business. The film has grossed over 90–96 million USD already and is still continuing to dominate the global box office.
