After the mega success of superhero saga 'Aquaman', Warner Bros is now all set to release a sequel of the superhero flick. Recently, the announced that release date of 'Aquaman 2' revealing that the film will hit the big theaters on December 16, 2022. The news came almost two months after the release of the first venture. As per media reports, director James Wan is speculated to return as producer along with Peter Safran.
Jason Momoa starrer 'Aquaman' attained indomitable feat breaking multiple records along the way. Opening to mostly positive reviews, the James Wan directorial has truly created history surpassing Christopher Nolan's super hit film 'The Dark Knight Rises' at the box office. The film based on the aquatic superhero has now become the highest grossing film ever in the DC cinematic universe. Currently, it is the 20th highest worldwide grosser of all time.
The film series follows the story of Arthur Curry who is half human and half Atlantean. Being really strong and with the ability to swim real fast underwater, the initial installment showcased the journey of Arthur discovering his Atlantean roots and what it means for the world. Besides Jason, the film also stars Amber Heard, Willem Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Nicole Kidman, in the lead.
As per media reports, the makers have brought back ‘Aquaman’ co-writer David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick to begin penning the new installment for the franchise. Previously, McGoldrick had teamed up with Will Beall on the 'Aquaman' script, from a story by Beall, Geoff Johns, and Wan. Reportedly, Johnson-McGoldrick began working on the screenplay three years ago after reading 'Aquaman' comic books while on the set of Wan's 'The Conjuring 2'.
