Consumption of entertainment has changed massively in the past few years, with Netflix leading the way in the emergence of numerous digital streaming platforms. This new media has even been termed as a ‘threat’ to the conventional format of filmmaking and watching it in theaters, with movies releasing directly on the streaming platform. And the announcement of the latest statistics from Netflix, shows that the number of people watching this content at the comfort of their homes and other places is not a small number. This can be explained with Bird Box being watched by 80 million people and Stranger Things by 64 million users, and this is just about the viewership in the first week of its release.

According to Netflix, Bird Box and Stranger Things were the most-watched movie and show respectively on the streaming platform, in terms of how many logged on for it in the first four weeks of its premiere.

The leaders of the list are hardly a surprise, with the Sandra Bullock-starrer being so popular upon its release that the Birdbox Challenge, involving tasks while being blindfolded, had prominence after which Netflix had also issued a warning.

Stranger Things too has enjoyed massive popularity, with its third season, that released in July, grabbing the spotlight.
