Just days ago, the big news came out that Kevin Hart has been selected as the host for the Oscar's 2019. However, before people can even get excited about the news, the actor has stepped down from his role and the reason may shock you.

It has come to light that the actor said no to playing host at the Academy Awards after the Academy asked to apologise for homophobic tweets and jokes which he made years ago. Soon after the news broke out, the actor posted an Instagram video where he said that he was given an ultimatum by the Academy to either apologise or they will find another host. To this, Kevin stood his ground and said that he has been evolving as a person and if people are expecting him to be sorry for something he did years ago, then he would rather not be part of the proceedings. The actor brazenly said that he won't apologise and thanked the Academy for the opportunity.

He also took to Twitter to explain his decision as he said that he doesn't want the night that'll celebrate the LGBTQ community to be sidetracked by him. Kevin concluded his statement by saying that he is sorry if he has hurt anyone's sentiments but that is evolving and his goal is to bring people together not tear them apart.

Back in 2009, Kevin had written this tweet that read, "Why does @wayne215 have so many pictures of me in his phone!!! What ru some type of FAT F*G that takes pic of small black men all day??". It was this tweet that stirred up the hornet's nest. Not only, but he had apparently also joked at a stand-up routine that his biggest fear is his son coming out as gay.
