Disney Plus: The streaming platform hits 10 million plus subscriptions within 24 hours

After Netflix, Amazon, Hotstar and more, a lot more platforms are taking their shows and building their own platforms. The latest addition to this competition is Disney Plus. Disney is offering its subscription at just $6.99 per month and $69.99 per year. Disney Plus gains more than 10 million subscriptions within 24 hours

The Walt Disney official streaming platform Disney Plus was recently launched. The OTT platform gained more than 10 million subscriptions within 24 hours. According to reports, the live-action Star Wars’ Show The Mandalorian was the most popular program on the first day. More than 2 million people were streaming it on Day-1 itself.

Due to the buzz created during the launch and the overwhelming interest, Disney Plus faced a lot of technical glitches. The issue even hindered many users’ access to the service in the initial hours. Fortunately, the issue got resolved by the end of the day.

With this response, Disney plus seems bound to become one of the largest streaming platforms in the world. A report suggested that the app was downloaded over 3.2 million times with the first 24 hours. The service is supported on multiple platforms including the web, Android, iOS, Apple TV, Xbox One, PS4 and more.

Meanwhile, another research predicted that the streaming platform will hit 18 million subscribers by FY 2020 but after the launch, it is likely that Disney will acquire the target much sooner than expected. Unfortunately for the fans, the streaming service is only available in the US, Canada, and the Netherlands. But, Disney Plus is expected to be rolled out globally including India, where the service is rumoured to be priced at ₹590 per month.
