'Doctor Strange' Director Scott Derrickson Returning For Sequel

Director Scott Derrickson is all set to return to helm the sequel to his smash-hit Marvel Studios film 'Doctor Strange'.

Another great news for the Marvel fans, the production house has recently confirmed that a sequel of 'Doctor Strange' is coming. As per media reports, the sequel 2016 sci-fi superhero film is in making and director Scott Derrickson is all set to reprise his role as the director of the upcoming venture. The 52-year-old reportedly has sealed the deal with Marvel Entertainment and the film is soon to go on floors.

Moreover, media reports suggest that 'Sherlock' star Benedict Cumberbatch who had portrayed the eponymous superhero in the previous venture will be taking back his role in the film. However, there is no confirmation on the same.  Cumberbatch has also been featured in Marvel Cinematic Universe's other ventures like 'Thor: Ragnarok' and 'Avengers: Infinity War'. Cumberbatch is expected to return for the fourth venture of the Avengers franchise.

'Doctor Strange' narrates the story of a talented neurosurgeon, Dr. Stephen Strange, who, after a tragic car accident, learns the secrets of a hidden world of mysticism and alternate dimensions.Actors Rachel McAdams and Benedict Wong, who played surgeon Christine Palmer and Master Wong respectively in the first project, are also expected to be back for the sequel.

As per media reports, Marvel studios have started searching for a writer to pen the sequel. The first venture was co-written by Derrickson himself along with C. Robert Cargill and Jon Spaihts. 'Doctor Strange', which also featured Chiwetel Ejiofor, Mads Mikkelsen, and Tilda Swinton, recorded a huge success at the box office and had grossed over 670 million US Dollars worldwide.

Meanwhile, Fans are waiting for two more anticipated ventures of Marvel Entertainment- 'Captain Marvel' and 'Avengers Endgame'. After months of wait, the production house released the first official trailer of  'Avengers Endgame' on December 7, 2018, and announced that the film is scheduled to release in April 2019. On the other hand, Marvel's another venture 'Captain Marvel' is all set to hit the theaters on March 8, 2019.
