Dolittle starring Robert Downey Jr. in the lead role will hit the theatres on January 17. The film explores the journey of Dr. Dolittle seven years after the death of his wife. The film’s trailer which was released on October 13 has already created immense buzz for its release. Dolittle the newest rendition of the film Dr. Dolittle where a doctor (played by Eddie Murphy in the original) who can speak to animals has several adventures in the film. This film is based on children's books by Hugh Lofting written during the First World War. Robert Downey Jr. plays the doctor in the film from the Victorian era. The movie follows the story of Dr. Dolittle’s after seven years since his wife’s death. His wife’s death leads him to live a life of isolation. He becomes a hermit hiding in his house with his clan of animals as his family. When the young queen falls ill, Dr. Dolittle sets on a journey to find a cure for the queen’s illness. Thus the quest of the doctor starts along with his entourage of animals with a self-employed little helper by his side.

Dolittle has been produced by Universal Pictures. The film has been directed by Stephen Gagan. Gagan has won the Academy Award, a Golden Globe and a BAFTA for writing the screenplay for the 2000 American crime-drama Traffic. It will be interesting to see Robert Downey Jr. in a character different from his Marvel’s Iron Man role. Dolittle will also mark a new collaboration between Downey’s Marvel co-star Tom Holland.
