The Australian actor had appeared in the seventh season of GOT as Harrag who with his Ironborn character served as a thorn in the side of Theon Greyjoy, played by Alfie Allen.

He is not only an actor but also a screenwriter, director and comedian and is also known for various other TV credits like ‘Love My Way’, ‘The Slap,’  ‘Ruben Guthrie,’ and romantic-comedy, ‘I Love You Too.’

"Jim and I are thrilled to welcome Brendan to the 'Avatar' family and know that he will bring great depth to the character of Mick Scoresby," said producer Jon Landau.

Cameron's Avatar stands as the highest grossing film of all time, with $2.7 billion globally. The first of four sequels is dated for Dec. 18, 2020, and stars Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana.

The new casting comes one week after Disney acquired 21st Century Fox, as now Avatar series will be backed by the company behind such box office mainstays as Marvel Studios known for their Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) production and Lucasfilm, known for their Star Wars franchise.

Cowell is represented by Hamilton Hodell in the U.K., United Management in Australia and Gang Tyre.

Avatar had released in December 2009 and deals with the planet of Pandora, the unique Na’ai human hybrids called ‘Avatars’ and the sci-fi drama that unfolds. It also became the highest-grossing film in no time from the day it released.
