The 32-year-old, who was only in the early stages of playing Daenerys Targaryen in the superhit show, first noticed signs of it after feeling intense pressure on her brain during a workout session. She collapsed to her knees in the washroom after which she was ‘violently, voluminously ill.’

The pain got unbearable for Emilia later on, and there was no option for her, but to undergo surgery. However, the actress was not cured fully post surgery and couldn’t even remember her name immediately on waking up post surgery.

The 'Triassic Attack' star was informed about the presence of an aneurysm in her skull but decided against removing it. Her troubles were far from over and the actress wanted to ‘pull the plug’ and even asked the medical staff to let her 'die' when she went through 'terrible anxiety, panic attacks.'

Later, she suffered from bleeding in her head and the growth in her brain had doubled in size, following which two more emergency operations were performed. The actress has gradually recovered since then over the years.

The actress revealed that the reason for her opening up is to help others suffering from similar illnesses to do so too. Emilia has now set up her charitable organisation SameYou, with which she hopes to help patients with procedures of treatment as she observed during her excruciating phase that the cost of mental and physical health recovery programmes were not affordable at all.
