American actor Jon Favreau announced that the title of his upcoming Star Wars TV series on Wednesday, October 3 will be called 'The Mandalorian.' He had earlier played roles in the animated series 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' and in 'Solo: A Star Wars Story.'

The 'Iron Man' star took to social media to unveil the title of the upcoming venture. He posted a picture on Instagram and opened up about the plot of the upcoming venture. As per media reports, the show is set seven years after the events of 1983's 'Return of the Jedi'. In the post, he said that the Mandalorian, who emerged after Jango and Boba Fett, is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. The picture shared by the actor read, "After the stories of Jango and Boba Fett, another warrior emerges in the Star Wars universe. The Mandalorian is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. We follow the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic...."

Later on Thursday, October 4, he posted another behind the scenes picture, which featured a Mandalorian. However, he left the post captionless. Mandalorians are fictional characters created by George Luca. They are the residents of planet Mandalore in the Star Wars science fiction franchise.

As per media reports, the first live-action Star Wars TV series will be aired in Disney's unnamed subscription streaming service. Reportedly, the project will be helmed by a group of directors including While Dave Filoni,  Taika Waititi,  Rick Famuyiwa, Bryce Dallas Howard and Deborah Chow. However, not many details about the film have been revealed yet. 'Star Wars: The Mandalore' is expected to release in 2019.
