Kit Harington opens about joining the Marvel universe after GoT

Kit Harington took the stage during ACE Comic Con in Chicago on October 14, where he confessed that he is “terrified but excited” to join the Marvel Universe

Kit Harington took the stage during ACE Comic Con in Chicago on October 14, where he confessed that he is “terrified but excited” to join the Marvel Comic Universe. The Game of Thrones star was announced to play the character of Dane Whitman who goes by the name of Black Knight in The Eternals during the D23 in August. The 32-year-old actor also believes that his experience with the popular HBO series will come in handy for his debut in an entirely new universe. Harington also acknowledged that while attending the event, he could see how passionate the people are about the Marvel universe. 

Harington's new chapter

After playing the character of Jon Snow in Game of Thrones for ten years, Harington also said that he is “thrilled” to start a whole new chapter with a whole new character. He further opens up about his character in the MCU saying it might look similar to Jon Snow on the surface but there a lot of things which can be done differently. Moreover, the English actor said that most of the actors who have joined the universe previously lack the experience of working with a big franchise, however, that is not the case with Harington. He said he has “lived with Thrones' for ten years” and has known a big-budget franchise along with the huge fan-base that comes with it.

Understands the responsibility

Kit Harington sais he understand the responsibility towards fans as well as the character to “do something” with the role being played in another world. He believes that he is prepared to be part of the MCU universe because he has been part of a universe before. Harington talked about his “cool” character who will have a sword but he is still scared to even mention playing a superhero for the first time. Moreover, the 32-year-old actor also confessed of having to chose things that are “as far away from Jon Snow as possible”.

'The Eternals'

The film is created by Jack Kirby in 1976, the story of "The Eternals" is set millions of years ago when the cosmic beings known as Celestials genetically experimented on humans to create individuals with superpowers known as the Eternals along with the villainous Deviants. Harington's character is the "non-Eternal" Dane Whitman, who goes by the name of Black Knight in the comics. Critically-acclaimed filmmaker Chloe Zhao is attached to direct the movie from a script by Matthew and Ryan Firpo. "The Eternals" has a release date of November 6, 2020.
