The trailer features the protagonist lion, Simba being subjected to contrasting views, one by his father Mufasa and the other by his evil uncle Scar. Only brief moments of Simba with Timon and Pumbaa, Rafiki and also Nala, to be voiced by Beyonce, are shown. The focus is clearly not as much on the drama and emotions, as much as it on the action.

While it’s slightly odd to imagine some of our favourite characters in live-action, the recreation in the format and the locations look stunning.

The movie has been directed by Jon Favreau, whose last similar live-action adaptation, ‘The Jungle Book’ had set the records tumbling worldwide. It wouldn’t be wrong to expect a similar response from ‘Lion King’ at the box office.  ‘Lion King’ releases on July 19, 2019.
