American web television series 'Orange is the New Black' is all set to conclude in the upcoming season. As per media reports, the makers have confirmed that Netflix's award-winning drama will have a finale in Season 7.

American web television series 'Orange is the New Black' is all set to conclude in the upcoming season. As per media reports, the makers have confirmed that Netflix's award-winning drama will have a finale in Season 7.

Makers of the series have posted a video message to the fans confirming the end of the series. They took to Twitter on Thursday, October 18, and shared a video which featured the core cast of the series announcing the news. They captioned the video saying "Warning: This may make you cry. The Final Season, 2019. #OITNB"

The series is based on Piper Kerman's memoir 'Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women's Prison', which is created by Jenji Kohan. The series narrates the story of prisoners who are detained inside a New York prison.

The lead cast of the film includes Taylor Schilling as Piper, Aduba, Kate Mulgrew, Laura Prepon, Laverne Cox, Taryn Manning, Yael Stone, Jackie Cruz, Elizabeth Rodriguez Michael Harney and Nick Sandow, among others.

It has received widespread appreciation across the world since it was released on July 11, 2013. As per media reports, it counts in Netflix's most-watched original series. The series has been awarded with several prestigious awards. 

For its first season, the series earned 12 Primetime Emmy nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series, and bagged three awards. In fact, It was the first series to score Emmy nominations in both comedy and drama categories.

It went on to earn additional four nominations in Season 2, including Outstanding Drama Series, and win for Uzo Aduba for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. It has also received six Golden Globe Award nominations, six Writers Guild of America Award nominations, a Producers Guild of America Award, an American Film Institute award, and a Peabody Award.

Till now Netflix has aired 6 seasons of 'Orange Is the New Black' with a total of 78 episodes. Season 7 of the series is scheduled to premiere in summer next year.
