Paul Dano's 'Wildlife' Nominated At The 20th Mumbai Film Festival In The Golden Gateway Category

The Mumbai Film Festival is organised by the Mumbai Academy of Moving Image and is headed by Shyam Benegal. Paul Dano's 'Wildlife' has been nominated for the Golden Gateway Award along with other critically-acclaimed movies from around the world.

The latest addition to the Mumbai Film Festival's Golden Gateway Award Category is Paul Dano's 'Wildlife'. The movie stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Carey Mulligan in lead roles. The movie received a great amount of appreciation from the audiences and the critics alike. The critically acclaimed movie has been screened at a number of film festivals held at Cannes and Toronto.

The Mumbai Academy of the Moving Image (MAMI) organizes this film festival annually. The Mumbai Film Festival is in its 20th year now. It honours the films by debutant directors from around the world. The festival previews films from across the world belonging to different genres and languages. It holds many competitions and has various showcase categories appreciating good cinema. It should not be confused with the Mumbai International Film Festival or MIFF, which is a biennial festival organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting of the Government of India.

Numerous screenings of the best documentaries and short films are organized to promote good film-making and talent. MAMI is chaired by acclaimed filmmaker, Shyam Benegal. Other trustees in the committee include big names like Ashutosh Gowariker, Shabana Azmi, Karan Johar and Amol Palekar. This year's MFF is scheduled from 25 October 2018 to 1 November 2018.

Other significant movies nominated for the coveted award include 'And Breathe Normally' by Isold Uggadottier, 'Nancy' by Christine Coe, 'Touch Me Not' by Adina Pintilie and 'Manta Ray' by Phuttiphong Aroonpheng. The movies running for the competition are acclaimed and appreciated all around the world helmed by award-winning directors.

Earlier, the Mumbai Film Festival had also announced 'the mother of all Masterclasses'. Reportedly, world-famous filmmaker, Darren Aronofsky will be gracing the festival and teaching the crafts of the art. He is best noted for his surreal technique of film-making which are often disturbing. His most famous movies include his debut Pi (1998), 'Black Swan' (2010), The Fountain (2006), The Wrestler (2008) and  Requiem for a Dream (2000).
