The Marvel Cinematic Universe films have established a strong foothold in India over the past few years. Their recent releases ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ and ‘Black Panther’ both went on to become massive box office successes. Recent reports suggest that Marvel is now attempting to create characters with a toehold in Indian culture and plan to involve Shah Rukh Khan in the project. As per reports, Stephen Wacker, VP, Creative Development, Marvel recently said that the company wants to find a way to bring Indian culture to the core of North American Marvel fans.
He further went on to say that it is going to be an interesting adventure for Marvel and he hopes that every MCU fan in India feels for the universe in the same way as a kid in New York does. The MCU has been making their presence felt in the subcontinent with their films releasing on a massive scale. Wacker further added that if they produce Indian content, Shah Rukh Khan has to be in it.
Meanwhile, after the significant climax in 'Avengers: Infinity War' reports had suggested that a number of unfamiliar Marvel characters could be revamped thus taking the franchise forward, Marvel boss Kevin Feige revealed that one of them is Kamala Khan who is also known as Ms Marvel. And back then, many on Twitter were of the opinion that Priyanka Chopra is ideal for the role. On May 12, Marvel Cinematic Universe's (MCU) official Twitter handle tweeted, "BREAKING: @MarvelStudios is planning to add Ms. Marvel / Kamala Khan into the Marvel Cinematic Universe "once we've introduced Captain Marvel to the world," says producer @Kevfeige!" In response to MCU's tweet, Twitterati had gone berserk as they started speculation on potential actors for the role with many putting their money on Priyanka Chopra.
Interestingly, Priyanka Chopra had lent her voice to Kamala Khan in a Marvel mobile video game back in 2016.
Back in 2016, it was announced that Vikramaditya Motwane will be directing an adaptation of an Indian superhero Chakra who was created by Stan Lee who has created numerous Marvel characters namely Spider-Man, Iron Man, Hulk, Fantastic Four and X-Men. Motwane had then reportedly stated that it is an absolute delight to be directing a film based on a character created by Stan Lee. However, there was no further news about the fate of what seemed to be an ambitious project.
Meanwhile, Marvel’s ‘Avengers 4’ is currently in the making and will reportedly see the characters time travel. The film marks the end of the ‘Avengers’ franchise.
