Paying a space tribute to the Wookie pilot Chewbacca - more specifically, the actor who played him -Peter Mayhew, Astronaut Nick Hague, on Friday, has fixed a photo of the late Mayhew to one of the windows at the International Space Station.
The picture posted by Hague features a smiling black-and-white photo of Peter Mayhew looking towards the vast starry space attached to a window with our blue and white planet in the background.
Mayhew, who passed away on April 30, 2019, at the age of 74 was well known for playing the Wookie-sidekick of rebel pilot Han Solo, Chewbacca in the original trilogy of the Star Wars franchise. He also came out of retirement to play the beloved 'teddy bear' look-alike Chewbacca in the 2015 hit space fiction - The Force Awakens featuring a new breed of Jedi and the Sith.
Twitter is moved beyond word by this beyond-the-world tribute to beloved 'Chewie' with Mark Hamill who played Luke Skywalker in the Franchise appreciating the space gesture.
The new Star Wars trilogy will conclude with the release of Episode IX - Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in December 2019. This will pick up from the previous installment the Last Jedi where the world was introduced to the force bond between the Jedi Rey and the leader of the Knights of Ren, Kylo Ren a.k.a. Ben Solo, the son of Princess Leia and Han Solo. The film was also featured the final breath of the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker and the assassination of the Supreme Leader Snoke.
