Thanos, the Marvel supervillain whose entry into the MCU was preceded by a massive buildup, finally made a full-fledged appearance in 'Avengers: Infinity War'. Not only did the mad Titan faced massive odds, but he also emerged victorious and succeeded in wiping out half the universe with the snap. Now, a new fan theory suggests that Thanos might actually end up teaming up with the superheroes in 'Avengers: Endgame'.
According to an outrageous fan theory, the next part of the superhero extravaganza will take place five years post the snap. Instead of witnessing blue skies and full bellies as Thanos had foreseen, the world has been plunged into utter chaos and anarchy. Not only that, but the universe itself is on the brink of collapse as all sentient life is still trying to make sense of the horrific events.
Seeing that all his pain and sacrifice has gone to waste, this theory postulates that the guilt of Gamora's death will weigh heavily on the mad Titan. It will be at this point that he will try to repair the Infinity Gauntlet and seek the help of the Avengers. Although initially, they would try to kill him, they would reluctantly agree to help him out as they have no other choice.
The theory then continues that this will eventually lead them all into a journey back in time, where Thanos will have to face off against his earlier version, which was hell-bent on destroying half the universe. So basically, in this story, the mad Titan will have to kill his former self, effectively erasing himself and the entire timeline of 'Avengers: Infinity War'.
As far fetched as this theory sounds it is a possibility because Thanos has always been shown as a character who is not necessarily evil. In fact, he undertakes this diabolical path only because he is convinced that it would benefit the universe. What's more, Dr Strange, who had overseen all possibilities of defeating the supervillain had said that there's only timeline where they succeed. This could very well be the one where Thanos himself agrees to undo his actions.
Well, if this plotline comes to pass, then one can certainly expect a lot of surprises in 'Endgame', for other than this obstacle, there are also reports that a larger threat will loom over the Avengers other than Thanos. Directed by the Russo brothers, 'Avengers: Endgame' is all set to release on April 26, 2019.
