'The Lion King' Roars At The Box Office, Mints Over Rs. 13 Crore On Opening Day

The much-anticipated animation film of the ‘90s ‘The Lion King’ is back on the big screen. The live-action version of the film which released on Friday, July 19, is widely appreciated by the audience. It has made a stunning opening at the box office.

The much-anticipated animation film of the ‘90s ‘The Lion King’ is back on the big screen. The live-action version of the film which released on Friday, July 19, is widely appreciated by the audience. It has made a stunning opening at the box office and has reportedly grossed over  Rs. 13 crores on day 1 of its release. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter and revealed that the Hollywood venture which released in India in a number of Indian languages collected Rs. 13.17 crore from all version on opening day.

Interestingly, the opening day collection of the film has surpassed the collection of Marvel's 'Spider-Man Far From Home' which released earlier this month. In the post, Adarsh further revealed that the film is expected to show a steep growth over the weekend.

Helmed by Jon Favreau, 'The Lion King' will see Donald Glover lending his voice to the much-loved character of Simba and Queen Bey Beyonce voiced his ladylove Nala. While John Oliver will be heard as Zazu and Seth Rogen will lend his voice to Pumbaa.

With the screenplay written by Jeff Nathanson and songs by legends like Elton John and Time Rice, the movie will be directed by Jon Favreau. James Earl Jones, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Billy Eichner, and Alfre Woodard are also a part of the cast ensemble. It has released in India in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu.
