While accepting this award, she said
“To be honest, I think Francia should be getting this award; because she saved my life”
Selena was in need of a kidney transplant because of her complications with Lupus.
And Francis Raisa saved Gomez’s life by donating one of her kidneys earlier this year
In an Instagram post, Gomez wrote “there aren’t words to describe” how she can thank Raisa, who she says gave “the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney. I am incredibly blessed,” she added.
Selena's earlier praised her transplant as a "beautiful thing", and believes her operation has "made her" who she is now.
Gomez revealed her lupus diagnosis in 2015 and took a break from her career last year to deal with anxiety, panic attacks and depression stemming from her battle with the disease.

Selena says she feels “incredibly lucky” because of the position she has been given in her career since the tender age of 7. Gomez has been in the spotlight since she was a child. Her first appearance was on ‘Barney & Friends’ before breaking through as a teen star on the Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place.
“I want people to know that I respect the platform I have so deeply” she added
Selena has a massive following on social media. Her 131 million followers on Instagram are the highest on the platform!
“I have never felt more proud to be a woman in the industry than I do today,” she said while sobbing
She thanked her family and her team for sticking by her through tough times and all the women in the industry who have inspired her.
She concluded by saying she doesn’t know how she’s going to repay anyone for all that they’ve done, but maybe she will make an “epic album” next year!
