One of the much-awaited films of this season, ‘Badhaai Ho’ is hitting the screens a day prior to its release date, and we know the reason why. Apart from the box office collection, the makers of the film are confident about the content of the film which has been beautifully put on screen by the cast and crew.

Setting The Scene

‘Badhaai Ho’, that stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra in lead roles, has Neena Gupta paired opposite Gajraj Rao, paving way for eclectic acting chops one witnesses on the celluloid. The leads are supported by Sheeba Chaddha and Surekha Sikri, who don’t leave any stone unturned to put forth one-of-its-kind cinematic experience for the masses. The film that revolves around the pregnancy of Priyamvada, essayed by Neena, who is in her later 40s or early 50s one could say, sees the entire family having a nervous breakdown with the news.

Plot

Breaking away from the mundane life of a seasoned married couple, Priyamvada and Kaushik, parents of two, embrace a night of romance without giving the consequences a thought. Few weeks after, Priyamvada falls sick and gets taken to a doctor. While the entire family worries for her health, it is the unexpected pregnancy that creates a stir. From breaking the news to their family to facing the age-old ‘log kya kahenge’, ‘Badhaai Ho’ taps into the pulse of an unusual family-drama with trivial issues that unfolds in each Indian household every other day. Few scenes are portrayed with so much conviction on-screen that holding back tears becomes a tough task.

Verdict

‘Badhaai Ho’ is a typical family-drama film that leaves you nostalgic and makes you want to call your family and tell them that you love them. Backed by a brilliant script, this Amit Sharma venture is sure to cast its spell on the masses that makes for a perfect family film this Dussehra.

Cast: Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, Neena Gupta, Gajraj Rao, Sheeba Chaddha, Surekha Sikri

What works: Portrayal of the nuisances of a middle class family in modern day and age.

What doesn't: Few sequences in the film could have been crisp and concise.

Rating: 4/5
