Anu Malik speaks to Republic

In an exclusive telephonic conversation with Republic TV, Anu Malik reacted to the crackdown on film CDs in Pakistan, saying, “Whenever we travel out of India, the fans only say that ‘We love Hindi music, we love Hindi films and that’s what we want to watch.’ And if our films are being banned there, the loss is for the viewers who love our films. Our industry is outstanding, we make outstanding films and outstanding music, more so in the last years, where some brilliant films have been made, that the whole world wants to watch. The public will miss out on our great films.”

When asked if India, after films, should ban other goods of Pakistan, Malik, without going into the specifics, stated, “There are great artists and being an artist, I respect all the artists around the world, but I feel there is nothing bigger than my own country. The idea of India is bigger than everything else, be it the films or the music or anything else. India should come before everything else and at the moment, we should only think about India.”

He continued further, “The current situation is such that we should only talk about our success, till the issue is resolved, we should only follow the Government's decision in this. You have heard my songs, be it ‘Sandese Se Aate’, other songs from ‘Border’ or ‘LOC Kargil’ or ‘East or West India is Best’; because for me, India comes first, that says everything.”
