The music composer turned 52 and has now a mountain of accolades under his name. Originally a native of TamilNadu, his music has transcended all regional and international boundaries. One netizen started out by posting a video of AR Rahman singing 'Vande Mataram'. Singing the patriotic number along with him was Coldplay frontman and international icon, Chris Martin. Strumming on an acoustic guitar, Chris and Rahman croon together as the crowd erupts in a massive cheer. This video was taken the Global Citizen Festival which was held in Mumbai in November 2016.
Another Twitter user disclosed that her favourite from the maestro is song 'Genda Phool' from the Abhishek Bachchan starrer 'Delhi 6'. Featuring the actor, it an interesting fusion of Indian folk with a modern groove, as it captures the flavour of Delhi at the same time. One more netizen chose the song 'Patakha Guddi' from 'Highway' which one of the most underrated songs of the music composer. The netizen marvelled at how perfectly Rahman captured the essence of every culture, be it South Indian, Punjabi or a more international one.
Another fan shared this classic Tamil song from the 2000 film 'Kandukondain Kandukondain'. Featuring Ajith and Tabu, the song 'Enna Solla Pogirai' is still a fan favourite as it captures the angst of love perfectly. One more netizen shared a live show of the musical genius where he performs the song 'Enna Sona' from Shraddha Kapoor and Aditya Roy Kapur starrer 'Ok Jaanu'.
