Asha Bhosle, who is one of the most versatile singers in India, turned 84 on Friday, September 8. The singer who has entertained several with her soulful voice for decades celebrated her birthday with her grandchildren in Geneva, Switzerland. Asha Bhosle started her career in 1943 and went on to sing in more than thousand Bollywood movies and gave us several classics including 'Chura Liya Hai Tumne', 'Piya Tu Ab To Aaja', 'Dum Maaro Dum', 'Yeh Mera Dil' and many more. The ace singer has also collaborated with western artists such as Boy George, Michael Stipe, and Australian cricketer Brett Lee.

In her career spanning six-decades, Asha was honoured with the Dada Saheb Phalke Award as well as the Padma Vibhushan. The singer also holds the record for being the most recorded artist in music history and has her name in the Guinness Book of World Records. 

1) Chura Liya Hai Tumne (1973):

This romantic song is from the 1973 film 'Yaadon Ki Baarat' and it has not lost its charm in 2017. It was an instant hit back then and is still popular among the youth. 

2) Abhi Na Jao Chhodkar (1961):

Picturised on the legendary Dev Anand and Sadhana, this is from the film 'Hum Dono' that released in 1961. Along with Asha Bhosle, Mohammad Rafi too was a part of the song for the male version.

3) Chod Do Aanchal (1975)

This duet is sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle and is from the movie 'Paying Guest'. It is a fast-paced, peppy number. Even 40 years later, you will hear these songs at several parties. And the lyrics of the song are still so fresh and remain situational. 

4) Aaiyee Meherban (1958): 

This song is picturised on the gorgeous Madhubala and Ashok Kumar and is from the film 'Howrah Bridge'. The song was composed by O.P. Nayyar, along with whom Bhosle has collaborated on several occasions to deliver superhit songs.

5) Yeh Mera Dil (1978):

From the original 'Don' featuring Amitabh Bachchan and Helen, this song went on to top the music charts back in the day. The popularity of this song from was so massive that it was retained in the film's remake in 2006. The remix version was sung by Sunidhi Chauhan and featured Shah Rukh Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
