Mika Singh has been released from custody after his arrest on charges of alleged sexual harassment in the UAE, as per reports.
The singer came out of custody on Thursday night after the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, Navdeep Singh Suri intervened in the matter. Suri has confirmed the news of his release and also stated that Mika will be required to make an appearance in the court with regards to the case later.
Mika has reportedly been accused of sending an inappropriate picture to a 17-year-old Brazilian girl. He also promised her a role in a Bollywood film. The singer was arrested from Bur Dubai, but he was taken to Abu Dhabi jail as the complainant held an Abu Dhabi passport.
The singer’s team confirmed to ANI yesterday that he has been detained for alleged harassment and questioning is underway. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the singer's spokesperson stated that Mika was being framed and the investigation for the same is on-going. He further added that the truth about the case will be out soon.
As reported by ANI, due to the efforts by the embassy, the singer was released at 11:30 and will be produced before the court soon.
Mika, meanwhile, posted a video early on Friday morning after his release on Instagram of having a ‘great time’ in Dubai. He is seen grooving to his track ‘Aankh Maarey’ from the movie ‘Simmba’ that was released a day prior. He asked his ‘lovely fans’ to enjoy the track and conveyed his best wishes to the film’s team, producer-director Rohit Shetty, producer Karan Johar and leads Ranveer Singh and Sara Ali Khan, who termed as ‘rocking’. He posted another similar video on Instagram stories. It’s not yet clear yet if the video was shot before or after his arrest.
