  • AR Rahman has collaborated with another legendary name, Gulzar, the same artiste who had penned the lyrics of the Oscar-winning song 'Jai Ho'.
  • At the end of the promo, we see Shah Rukh Khan and Rahman releasing the hockey sticks into the air and catching it in style.

India is all set to host the men's Hockey World Cup this month, and when it's an international event, you need someone who’s famous across the globe to give it the right kind of momentum in the countdown to the tournament. Who better than A R Rahman, who has made the country proud on international platforms with the Oscar-winning track ‘Jai Ho’ from ‘Slumdog Millionaire.’ Again, the veteran musician has collaborated with another legendary name, Gulzar, the same artiste who had penned the lyrics of the Oscar-winning song. The word ‘Jai’ has been used again, but it’s ‘Jai Hind India’ this time.

The promo has been unveiled in the build-up to the World Cup and the track seems to be an energetic track in the trademark Rahman space, which his fans have loved over the years. As the tournament is being held in Bhubaneshwar, Odisha, we see visuals of the Chau dance and other art forms of the state in the video. And with lyrics going ‘Jai Hind India’, we also see the Indian players and a top view of the hockey stadium, where all the action is set to take place.

But the best part of the video is when Shah Rukh Khan makes an appearance. The actor is synonymous with the sport courtesy his much popular movie ‘Chak De! India’ and at the end of the promo, we see him and Rahman releasing the hockey sticks into the air and catching it in style. The two stars had also recently collaborated on the singer-composer's YouTube original show ‘ARRived.’

Apart from SRK, we also see South superstar Nayanthara, dressed in a red saree, while performing a traditional dance step. This is only a promo and it's likely that the full version will be released at the opening ceremony of the tournament.

The World Cup kicks off on 26 November and the final will be played on 16 December.
