The nation is yet to get over the grief of the death of 40 jawans of the Central Reserve Police Force in the Pulwama terror attack. Citizens across the country have come out to do their bit in helping the martyrs’ families in the trying times. Even Bollywood celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar and many others have pledged to contribute for their welfare. Now, Lata Mangeshkar has announced that she too will be making a significant donation for the families.
As per reports, the legendary singer is set to donate Rs one crore for the martyrs’ families. She will be making the donation on April 24, the death anniversary of her father, singer-actor-music composer Deenanath Mangeshkar. The singer will be handing out the cheque on the scheduled date. In an interview, Mangeshkar said that numerous celebrities from the film industry have made a contribution for the families and many of them are still doing so and they too have announced something from their end.
After the attack on February 14, Mangeshkar had condemned the attack, given her respects to the families and expressed condolences to the families.
The legend had also tweeted recently after the Indian Air Force gave a fitting response to Pakistan by destroying Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorist bases along the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday. She wrote, "JAI HIND,JAI HIND Ki SENA.." and shared a video of singing 'Vande Mataram.'
