The Me Too India continues to gather steam with new names emerging day-by-day. Drawing from the movement against sexual harassment that struck Hollywood last year, this path-breaking campaign was indeed much needed.
From veteran actors like Alok Nath and Nana Patekar, A-list comedians of All India Bakchod (AIB) to the Minister of State for External Affairs MJ Akbar, several have been accused of sexual harassment.
The latest addition to this shocking list of alleged sexual predators is Poet Vairamuthu. On Wednesday playback singer Chinmayi Sripaada accused a Tamil poet-lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual harassment. The singer alleged the poet tried harassing her when they both were in Switzerland for a book launch/album launch.
In an exclusive interview to Republic TV, Chinmayi revealed,
"4-5 years ago, when I was performing in Switzerland, I was asked to go to Vairamuthu's room. My mother and I put our foot down and they refused to even send us back to India after that. We threatened to go to the embassy if we have to and another time I was blackmailed for saying I won't sing for him".

Prior to speaking to Republic TV, the singer had shared a series of tweets alleging that Vairamuthu, following the book or album launch (she does not remember clearly), the organiser asked to go Vairamuthu's room. When Sripaada protested against the same, the organiser said, 'You wont have a career'.
Here's the series of tweets in question:
The movement that began with former Bollywood actress Tanushree Dutta accusing Nana Patekar and Vivek Agnihotri of harassment is nowhere close to the end.
