Demi Lovato's mother Dianna De La Garza recently revealed that the singer-songwriter Demi Lovato has been sober for three months now. In a recent interview with a publication, she stated that she cannot be more thankful or proud of her daughter. Demi Lovato was earlier hospitalised in July as she suffered from an apparent drug overdose. Since then, she has been in a rehabilitation centre.
The singer-songwriter's mother revealed that she cannot really say what led Demi into a relapse and further disclosed that she did not know what she was doing, as she does not live with her. The singer's latest release 'Sober' was about not being sober, and a few months earlier, during a show at Brooklyn's Barclays, Lovato had celebrated remaining sober for 6 years.
Earlier, Demi Lovato opened up about her hospitalization and drug overdose. Starting the post, she states that she has always been transparent about her journey with addiction, and hopes to recover soon. Further, she also thanks her family, her team and the staff at Cedars-Sinai who have been by her side throughout.
After the news of her being hospitalized because of her drug addiction broke many of her family members and celebrities took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter to express their sadness over the matter. There where several celebrities including Priyanka Chopra, Nick Jonas, Joe Jonas, Missy Elliott, Ariana Grande, Brad Paisley, Kesha, Bebe Rexha, Meghan Trainor, Maren Morris, Kehlani and British electronic group Clean Bandit, whose current single “Solo” features Lovato extended their support to the singer-songwriter.
Her overdose came as a shock to the industry, as just recently revealed that she was not addicted to drugs anymore and was sober. However, she quickly relapsed and was found unconscious. She was then treated at the scene with Naloxone, an anti-overdose medicine after she had reportedly taken heroin. As the 'Solo' singer has always been so open and vocal, she became a role model for women who were battling through various issues. The singer-songwriter has not had it easy, she has suffered from eating disorders, self-mutilation, drugs, and alcohol.
