Actor Prithviraj's Mother, Mallika Sukumaran Throws Light On Viral Flood Rescue Image

Veteran actress and mother of Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mallika Sukumaran's photo of being rescued during the Kerala floods had gone viral. In the picture that went viral, she was seen sitting in a large aluminium vessel and was accompanied by a few people who were helping her reach on the other side. Even amidst the flood, people took out the time to troll the actress. 

A few years ago, when Prithviraj had purchased an expensive car, she had told the State government to fix te roads so that they can drive their expensive car on it. Taking this opportunity, many people were trolling her saying that her arrogance has been bought down as now she is forced to travel in an aluminium vessel. 

The actress, however, lets out a clarification through a WhatsApp audio which has gone viral now. In the four minute video, Mallika explains as to what actually happened on the said day. She told that her house is at a higher level and the water that entered her house was not flood water. 

She has a water tank in her house and on the day she cleaned it and dried it up as her grandchildren were to come home for Onam and they tend to use the tank as a swimming pool and would have jumped into it. There is a drainage adjacent to the tank and may be due to the force of floodwater on the nearby street, it overflowed throw the drain. 

She said that the water was muddy and it was soon all over the house. The actress also added that she sat in a vessel as she wanted to get into a car across the street and could not walk on the muddy water because of her age. She first saw her neighbour using the vessel to reach her car and just did exactly the same thing. Now, the actress feels that it was a mistake to make use of the vessel to travel 100 meters. 

On the other hand, Mallika Sukumaran is overwhelmed by the concern people expressed towards her safety and assured that she is safe an sound and has returned to her house as the water level had receded by evening. 

And to the people who clicked her picture, she said that there were other helpless people who needed help, why did they not click their pictures and reach out to help them.
