The team of the Tamil remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’ are gearing up for a fresh start after encountering a controversy with their first version. The movie has been christened as ‘Adithya Varma’ and Priya Anand has joined the cast of the movie.
The makers announced the new title, a change from the erstwhile ‘Varmaa’ with a fresh poster of the lead actor Dhruv Vikram in a bearded avatar.
Priya, who apart from work in South films has also worked in Hindi films like ‘English Vinglish’, ‘Rangreezz’ and the ‘Fukrey’ franchise, is the latest entrant after ‘October’ actress Banita Sandhu had joined the cast a few days ago.
Gireesaaya has been roped in as the director, who takes over from Bala. Veteran cinematographer Ravi K Chandran and music composer Radhan are among the other members of the team.
Dhruv is the son of popular Tamil actor Vikram and the movie marks his debut. Earlier, ‘Varmaa’, directed by Bala and also starring Megha Chowdhury, which was fully shot and geared up for a Valentine’s Day release, was scrapped by the makers for being ‘unsatisfactory.’ With the new version, they had expressed their intention to 'stay true to the soul and intention of the original’ ‘Arjun Reddy.’
Bala had relieved himself from the movie to 'safeguard creative freedom' and in consideration of Dhruv’s future.
