‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ director Anurag Kashyap, who is known for his art will now be donning another feather in his hat. This time it’s a switch from being behind the camera to facing it, Kashyap will be seen on the silver screen not in the credits slate for direction, but for his acting.

Yes, you read it right, ace director has now decided to venture into another facet of the creative set-up. Tamil film 'Imaikkaa Nodigal' helmed by R. Ajay Gnanamuthu will mark his debut, Kashyap will be seen sharing screen space with actress Nayanthara. The film hit theatres on August 31 and fans cannot stop talking about it, 'Imaikkaa Nodigal' created a huge buzz way before the release of the film, let's see what magic it has on the box office.

Poster of the film, take a look!

The 45-year-old filmmaker will be seen stepping into the shoes of a psychopath killer -- who is the antagonist in the movie. This is not the first time he will be trying his hand at acting, in the past, Kashyap has made cameo appearances in many films. If his recent filmography was considered he played a vital role in Sonakshi Sinha starrer 'Akira' in which he was seen playing a cop. He garnered accolades for his acting skills in 'Chhuri', a short film with Tisca Chopra and Surveen Chawla that unfolded the story of infidelity in a way you've never seen before.

Throwing light on his Tamil debut he issued a statement in which he said, “What pulled me towards acting in Imaikaa Nodigal is the role. Rudra is not your typical baddie. He doesn’t just smoke, drink, order his men around and indulge in item numbers. He is menacing, scary, smart and cunning. This strange mixture that forms the role is what tempted me to take it up although I was tied up with my own projects back in Mumbai.”

He further added, “When the audiences watch the movie in the theatre, if I’m able to evoke the tiniest of fears in them, as Rudra, I’ll consider my work done.”
