The Sandra Bullock starrer has given birth to what is now being dubbed as the Bird Box challenge. For those who are unaware, the challenge entails one to do tasks while blindfolded. As you can see, that will not end really well for a lot of people who are super dependent on their sight.

As for why are people doing this crazy trend, well the movie 'Bird Box' sees Sandra Bullock and others tying up their eyes in order to survive. The movie takes place in a world where there are monsters who will make you kill yourself if you look at them, hence the blindfold. Needless to say, Netflix is not amused by this new trend.

Issuing a statement on Twitter, the network's tone was one of exasperation as they said, "Can’t believe I have to say this, but: PLEASE DO NOT HURT YOURSELVES WITH THIS BIRD BOX CHALLENGE. We don’t know how this started, and we appreciate the love, but Boy and Girl have just one wish for 2019 and it is that you not end up in the hospital due to memes."
